It’s time to try another Kindle promotion for The Scarlet Crane.
I ran the first promotion right after I posted the eBook on Amazon. I was totally green about the process — just set a three day period for the book promo and let it go. No preparation, no notification, no social network.
The book was downloaded about 1,000 times worldwide but there was no subsequent uptick in sales and or reviews. I thought getting that many downloads was pretty impressive, until I studied how others did their promotion and the thousands of downloads that resulted. In hindsight, I’m amazed that anyone found the book at all. Stunned, even.
So I’m ready for try #2, starting this Saturday, March 2nd. This time I have more of a Twitter presence. And I’ve visited as many sites as I could find to post a notice of the free offer. I’ve also released an Amazon print-on-demand version of The Scarlet Crane. It ain’t free, but it’s available for those willing to pay to avoid the kiss of an eBook.
We’ll see how it goes. I’m still green on the self-pub promotion thingy, but more seasoned than I was and as determined as ever. Most importantly, I still have confidence that my book is a good one, worthy of a person’s precious reading time.
